Huntsville reveals more details in Aerojet Rocketdyne deal

Aerojet Rocketdyne, the California-based company that is building the propulsion engines for the SLS deep space rocket, will bring more than 700 jobs to Huntsville. The announcement was first made by the city in April -- overshadowed in that it came at the exact moment Gov. Robert Bentley was resigning -- but it was a "fist-pump moment," Mayor Tommy Battle said. – AL.com

Bribery indictment focuses attention on Drummond Co.

News of Thursday's indictments in the bribery case of former Alabama Rep. Oliver Robinson shined a spotlight on one of Alabama's largest, most influential and well-known corporations – Drummond Company. Drummond Vice President David Lynn Roberson was indicted on one count of conspiracy to defraud, one count of bribery, three counts of honest services wire fraud and one count of money laundering conspiracy. He was indicted along with two attorneys and partners at Balch & Bingham – Joel Iverson Gilbert and Steven George McKinney. – AL.com

Alabama politicians react to Trump tax reform plan

Members of Alabama’s congressional delegation were quick to weigh in on President Trump’s new tax proposal. Unsurprisingly, Republicans are praising it and the Yellowhammer State’s lone Democrat is raising concerns. The proposed tax framework would shrink the current seven brackets into effectively four brackets: 0%, 12%, 25%, and 35%. The plan also calls for the standard deduction to double and a significant increase in the Child Tax Credit. But the details are left to Congress to work out later. – ALToday

Adams Beverages event bringing Bud Clydesdales to state

The Budweiser Clydesdales are coming to three locations in east central Alabama next week - Opelika, Auburn and Phenix City. Lauren Carmack, director of marketing of Adams Beverages of Opelika, said the famous horses are making their appearance in conjunction with the opening of the company's new warehouse. "We just wanted to give the community several opportunities to see them," she said. – AL.com

Moore’s ethics form doesn’t tally with income statements

Roy Moore, the controversial Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Alabama, neglected to disclose as much as $150,000 in income to federal ethics officials, according to a Daily Beast review of public records. In filings with the Alabama Ethics Commission, Moore, the former chief justice of the state supreme court, listed between $50,000 and $150,000 in honoraria received last year for various speaking engagements. But in a filing with the Senate Ethics Committee two months later, he explicitly denied having received any payments last year "for an article, speech, or appearance." – Daily Beast

Vulcan’s Gurley Quarry wins environmental award

Vulcan Materials Company's Gurley Quarry has been named the winner of the National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association's Platinum Environmental Excellence Award, the highest environmental recognition presented by the national organization. Vulcan's Gurley Quarry, which began operations in 2013, is located in Madison County, Alabama, east of Huntsville. – Business Insider

Southern Veterinary Partners acquires more assets

Southern Veterinary Partners has acquired two additional hospitals in Alabama and two hospitals in Florida. Goodwin Animal Hospital (along with Goodwin Pet Resort) and Taylor Crossing Animal Hospital, both in Montgomery, along with Barry Veterinary Hospital in Destin, Florida and Soundside Animal Hospital in Navarre, Florida have joined Southern Veterinary Partners’ network.  – News release
