MPT makes $1.2B deal to buy nine hospitals

Birmingham's Medical Properties Trust (NYSE: MPW) has signed a deal to make $1.2 billion in hospital real estate investments, the company announced Monday.  All nine hospitals are owned by Steward Health Care System, an affiliate of Cerberus Capital Management. – AL.com

Gov. Robert Bentley's defense against possible impeachment could depend on what the committee investigating Bentley lets him do. The House Judiciary Committee will gather today to consider some amendments to the rules on the probe. Gas prices stabilize as pipeline repaired

Colonial said Tuesday a 500-foot bypass section should be connected to Line 1 and ready for operation on Wednesday, following the approval given by the U.S. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to build, install and operate the bypass as a "temporary measure to restore service." – CRC Connection

Competing automakers to cooperate on traffic app

Digital map maker Here will introduce a new set of traffic services this week that allows drivers to see for themselves what live road conditions are like miles ahead using data from competing automakers, an industry first. The company, owned by BMW Group, Mercedes-Benz and Audi, will allow drivers to share detailed video views of traffic jams or road hazards. – Automotive News

Huntsville planning visionary Dallas Fanning dies

Former City of Huntsville Director of Planning and Urban Development Dallas W. Fanning has died, Mayor Tommy Battle confirmed Monday night.
