Nequette Architecture & Design, of Birmingham, received a national Palladio Award for the New Design & Construction, less than 5,000 square feet category for its work on the Cahaba River House, located in Bibb County on 512 acres. The Palladio Awards are presented by Traditional Building and Period Homes magazines.
Tuskegee University has received its largest planned gift to date from the estate of a 1943 graduate, Orlando Lawrence Clark. The $1.59 million gift will be used to establish a scholarship fund.

McPherson Oil, of Trussville, was one of 10 companies recently awarded the Circle of Excellence Gold for 2015-2016 by ExxonMobil. McPherson has been a distributor for ExxonMobil for more than 30 years.
Samford University ranked ahead of all other public and private colleges and universities in Alabama on Forbes Inc.’s Top Colleges ranking. Samford ranked no. 182 out of 650 schools ranked.
Tilson, an IT professional services firm with an office in Foley, has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of America’s fastest-growing private companies for a seventh consecutive year.
Torch Technologies has been ranked no. 157 out of the Top 200 on Bloomberg Government’s annual BGOV200 list, which ranks federal contractors based on prime contracts awarded in fiscal year 2016. In addition, Torch has been ranked on Inc. 5000’s list for an 11th consecutive year.
University of Alabama at Birmingham was recognized in July with a national Envision Oculus Award for its low vision rehabilitation graduate certificate program in occupational therapy.
University of North Alabama’s Master’s and Executive Master’s in Business Administration degrees were ranked in the top 10 by Best Colleges Review and MBA Central. In Best College Reviews, UNA ranked third among 200 universities nationally. In MBA Central, the EMBA program ranked seventh.
Wallace State Community College, in Hanceville, has been named a 2017 Innovation of the Year Award winner for its Guided Pathways Model initiative by the League for Innovation in the Community College. The Guided Pathways model is comprised of curricular maps grouped around broad meta-majors for students.
