A month of achievements in Alabama business

The Alabama Golf Course Superintendents Association’s Donnie Arthur Tournament partnered with Children’s of Alabama in late August in support of the 2016 Bone Marrow Recipient Reunion. The reunion was held as part of Children’s commemoration of National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. 

Made In Alabama’s stand at the Farnborough International Airshow 2016 shared Best in Show honors with Yarde Metals’s booth. There were more than 220 exhibitors in the U.S. International Pavilion.

Adtran recently shipped its 50,000th Total Access 5000, making it the most deployed multi-service access node in North America. The TA5000 is used by over 50 percent of the top 100 U.S. network operators. 

The Alabama Tourism Department’s Year of Alabama BBQ campaign, developed by Luckie, has received the Mercury Award for the best targeted marketing promotion in the nation by the National Council of State Tourism Directors. 

Barfield, Murphy, Shank & Smith has been named for an eighth time to Accounting Today’s Best Accounting Firms to Work For listing. 

Belle Chevre took third place in the American Cheese Society Awards in early August. 

The Brewton facility of Casting Technologies (Grede), a subsidiary of Metaldyne Performance Group Inc., has received the State of Alabama Department of Labor Workplace Safety Award of Superior Achievement, recognizing two years of continuous operation without a workplace injury resulting in lost time. 

Chambless King Architects was recently honored with a Merit Award from the Alabama Council of The American Institute of Architects. 

DeAngelis Diamond, a construction company with an office in Birmingham, earned a spot on Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies list. 

Keel Point LLC, an investment advisory firm in Huntsville, was named to the 2016 Inc. 5000 list. Keel Point has grown 122 percent over the past three years. 

The largest 5K in the state of Alabama, Komen North Central Alabama’s annual Race for the Cure will hold its 25th annual race in October in Birmingham. 

SouthPoint Industrial Park, in Limestone County, has received its first Alabama AdvantageSite designation. 

Torch Technologies, of Huntsville, and Employment Screening Services (ESS), of Birmingham, were ranked on the Inc. 5000 list for a tenth consecutive year. Both companies were recognized for their remarkable growth rates from 2013 to 2016. 

White-Spunner Construction Inc., of Mobile, has received the 2016 Safest in the Industry Gold Award and the 2016 Platinum Level STEP Award from Associated Builders and Contractors.
