Mercedes increases lead over BMW in latest earnings report

BMW AG lost ground to global luxury-car leader Mercedes-Benz as profits from carmaking fell while the euro’s gains prompted the manufacturer to reduce its forecast for automotive revenue. Amid increased spending to refresh and expand its car lineup, BMW is now predicting a “slight” gain in 2017 auto revenue, compared with its previous forecast for a “solid” increase, the Munich-based company said Tuesday in a statement. – Bloomberg

Bill Battle, James Andrews, Don Logan among new HOF members

Former University of Alabama Athletic Director Bill Battle, sports medicine giant James Andrews and Birmingham Barons and BASS owner Don Logan are among the six newest inductees into the Alabama Business Hall of Fame. The group will be honored Thursday at the Haven in Birmingham. Also being inducted will be Charles E. Adair of Montgomery, Dorothy Davidson of Huntsville and Birmingham's John D. Johns. – AL.com

Austal’s EPF 9 completes acceptance trials

Austal successfully completed acceptance trials on USNS City of Bismarck, Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF 9), October 20, in the Gulf of Mexico. City of Bismarck is slated for delivery to the U.S. Navy later this year and is the ninth ship in Austal’s 12-ship EPF contract valued at over $1.9 billion. – News release

Birmingham Marriott among redesigned, upgraded hotels

Global private equity firm Lone Star Funds along with Pyramid Hotel Group has announced the completion of its yearlong, approximately $70 million Marriott Hotels redesign project that included seven full service Marriott hotels that are managed by Pyramid Hotel Group. The extensive transformations at each of the seven hotels include the guest rooms, Greatroom, M Club Lounge, lobby, and fitness and recreation amenities. – News release

Hoover gives IberiaBank a $1.7M tax abatement

The Hoover City Council has voted unanimously to abate $1.7 million in property taxes and non-educational sales taxes to assist IberiaBank with the creation of a regional headquarters in the International Park office complex. The Louisiana-based bank is buying a vacant 130,000-square-foot office building in the International Park office complex off Acton Road and plans to move its Birmingham operations from the Grand View office complex off U.S. 280. – Hoover Sun

CVS to offer next-day prescription deliveries in 2018

CVS will begin offering next-day prescription deliveries in the new year, the pharmacy chain announced Monday. Nationwide next-day delivery will start in early 2018 with residents in some cities - Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and San Francisco - eligible for same-day delivery within hours of orders, CVS said. The program will start Dec. 4 in Manhattan. – AL.com

Supplier happy for Airbus role with Bombardier

Airbus' majority ownership in the C Series could be positive for Canada's aerospace industry, the head of Boeing landing gear supplier Heroux-Devtek Inc. said Monday. "I think it could be quite good for the Quebec, Canada supply chain (to) service Airbus from here," chief executive Gilles Labbe said during a conference call to discuss its fiscal second-quarter results. Boeing's European rival reached a deal last month with Bombardier to purchase a 50.01 per cent stake in the C Series commercial jet. – Chronicle Herald
