Who's moving up?

ACCOUNTING
Eden Thornton has joined Jackson Thornton as a senior manager. In addition, Renee Hubbard, a principal in the firm, was inducted into the Troy University School of Accountancy Accounting Hall of Honor.

Russ Dorsey, information technology officer at Kassouf & Co., has been elected to the board of directors for Regional Health Care Network. 

BANKING
Lee Webb
has been named Baldwin County executive and promoted to senior vice president for the South Alabama region of BBVA Compass. 

For a third consecutive year and fourth time overall, Regions Financial Corp. Chief Credit Officer Barb Godin has been named one of 25 Women to Watch in Banking by American Banker magazine. 

Gary Holemon has been named president of the Robertson Banking Co. Holemon has been with the company since 1994. Robertson Banking Co. is a privately owned community bank with offices in west Alabama. 

BEVERAGES
Matthew Dent
, president and COO of Buffalo Rock, has been elected as one of 10 board members of the American Beverage Association. 

BIOTECHNOLOGY
HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology has hired Cynthia House as vice president for organizational development, Jozef Lazar as faculty investigator, David Bick as medical director of the Institute's clinic for genomic medicine, Howard Jacob as executive vice president and chief medical genomics officer, Maureen Mack as chief communications officer, Kimberly Strong as a bioethicist, and Elizabeth Worthey as director of informatics. Also, Lynne Berry has been promoted to chief advancement officer.  

BUSINESS ADVISOR
Transworld Business Advisors has announced its affiliation with Rick Gardner as an M&A Advisor in the Central Alabama region. 

CONSTRUCTION
Gray Construction has announced several changes to its Southeast office in Birmingham, including the redevelopment of the historic Booker T. Washington Insurance Co. into Gray’s regional headquarters. Brian Jones was appointed chief operating officer. Daniel Pittman will serve as regional manager, Southeast office. Zach Lemley has joined the company as manager, business development. Alex DeMartini has been appointed manager, project development services. 

American Buildings Co. has appointed William Schwartz as its new general manager of ABC – West Division. 

EDUCATION
Vicky Ohlson
has been appointed to serve as interim president of Enterprise State Community College. She replaces interim president Cynthia Anthony, who has been appointed interim president at Shelton State Community College, following the departure of Andrea Mayfield. 

Jeff Rhodes will serve as acting president for Reid State Technical College, following the retirement of Reid President Douglas Littles, who had served in the position for 15 years. 

Forrest Latta has been reappointed to the Troy University Board of Trustees for a 12-year term. 

FINANCE
Kelley & Mullis Wealth Management has hired Cindy Irwin as human resources director. 

GOVERNMENT
Longtime U.S. diplomat Jim Patterson, an Auburn University alumni, attended an event at the residence of Japanese Ambassador Kenichiro Sasae in honor of Lt. General Brent Scowcroft.

HEALTH CARE
Lemak Health, in Birmingham, has added Kenneth Jaffe and Jordan Case to its team of physicians. 

INSURANCE
Palomar Insurance Corp. has hired Amanda Bechard as an account manager.  

JEWELERS
Mary Hayes
, founder of Hayes Jewelers in Mobile, has been named to the 24Karat Club of the Southeastern United States. Hayes has more than 55 years of experience in the retail jewelry industry. 

LEGAL
Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers LLP is opening a new office in Birmingham, which will be headed by partner Lane Finch and associate Brian Richardson.

Thomas Oliver II, a founding shareholder at Carr Allison, has been named chair of the 2015-16 USLaw Network Board of Directors. 

Sara Turner has been named co-chair of Baker Donelson’s Franchise and Hospitality Industry Service Team. She joins Joel Buckberg and Eugene Podesta Jr. in leading the practice. 

Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP Partner Beau Byrd has been named chair of the Property, Probate and Trust Section of the Alabama State Bar for 2015-2016. 

Maynard Cooper & Gale Shareholder Cynthia Lamar-Hart has been named as one of Birmingham's 10 Smartest Women of 2015 by The Women's Fund. In addition, the firm has added 12 new attorneys. They are: Christie Borton, Virginia McKibbens, Ashlee Riopka, Heather Ward, Drew Dolan, Mark Foley, Jacob Franz, Johnny Wilhelm, Stephen Rogers, Drew Bozeman, Sujin Kim and Linda Oliver.

Brian McCarthy, a member of McDowell Knight Roedder and Sledge LLC, has become a fellow of the Ameircan College of Trial Lawyers.

Craig Hymowitz has joined the firm Rumberger, Kirk & Caldwell as of counsel in the Banking Law and Securities and Financial Service Litigation practice groups.

Coleman Worldwide Moving Chairman James Coleman has been inducted into the Dothan Business Hall of Fame. 

PUBLIC RELATIONS

has joined EBSCO Creative Concepts. Wood has more than 15 years of experience in the promotional products industry.

Luckie & Co. has added Hagan Major and Jay Waters to its board of advisors. Major is co-founder and president of YellowHammer. Waters has been with Luckie for 25 years in various capacities.

The Alabama Restaurant and Hospitality Alliance has presented Joe Roszkowski and David Dekle, of the Original Oyster House, the Lifetime Achievement Award. Roszkowski is president/CEO and Dekle is vice president of Superb Foods, the management company of the Original Oyster House restaurants, Geez Louise Boutique, OOH Trading Co. and Joe & Dave’s Sauces and Seasonings. 

Chandler Worley, a grill master at LongHorn Steakhouse in Huntsville, has been presented with the Team Member of the Year Award, the company’s top honor for restaurant team members. Chandler is one of four members to be selected from more than 28,000 LongHorn employees in North America. 

TECHNOLOGY
The American Institute of Aeronautics has selected Leandro Barajas, an engineer and section manager in the Unmanned Systems & Aerodynamics Department of Dynetics, as an AIAA associate fellow. In addition, Shane Hammett, a Dynetics senior cybersecurity threat analyst, has been named to Cyber Huntsville’s board of directors. 

Dynetics Senior Cybersecurity Analyst Greg Jackson presented data on use and governance solutions at the Alabama Educational Technology Association Fall Symposium.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, who is from Foley, received the Human Rights Campaign's Visibility Award. 

TELECOMMUNICATIONS
Digium Inc. has hired Allen Dillard as chief financial officer. Dillard formerly served as CEO of Mobular Technologies. 

UTILITIES
Former Tennessee Valley Authority President and COO Oswald "Ike" Zeringue has been honored with the Nuclear Excellence Award by the World Association of Nuclear Operators.
