Golden Dragon Copper USA Inc. plans to add 30 to 40 jobs at its west Alabama facility in the Thomasville/West Wilcox Industrial Park. Washington Post says Sessions met with Russians

Jeff Sessions had two conversations with Russia's ambassador to the U.S. during the 2016 campaign but did not mention it during his confirmation hearing for attorney general, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday night. Sessions, then an Alabama senator, spoke with Sergey Kislyak in July and September, the Post reported. Yet during a confirmation hearing in January, Sessions said he "did not have communications with the Russians" while he served as a campaign surrogate for Donald Trump. – Washington Post/Business Insider

USA Physicians Group to dedicate $36M facility

A ribbon cutting and building dedication ceremony will be held for the Strada Patient Care Center today at 5 p.m. at the Strada Patient Care Center located at 1601 Center Street. The new $36.6 million, 133,000-square-foot building provides an expansion of clinical space for the USA Physicians Group practice and will offer patients additional conveniences. – News release

Modine Innovation Tour to visit Loxley on Tuesday

Modine Manufacturing Company, a technology leader in the HVAC industry, will be in Loxley, about 20 miles east of Mobile, on March 7 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Mingledorff’s, for their latest stop on the 2017 Innovation Tour. Huntsville Marriott sold, will get $10M remodeling

A hotel near the U.S. Space and Rocket Center will soon get a big makeover. The Huntsville Marriott on 5 Tranquility Base was recently acquired by Ascent Hospitality of Buford, Ga., the company announced last week. Ascent said it will spend $10 million remodeling the property's guest and meeting rooms, public spaces, and pool and lobby areas. – AL.com

Crocs closing dozens of stores nationwide

Add another retailer's name to list of those closing locations. Crocs Inc. said it will close 160 stores - about 28 percent of its locations - in the wake of falling revenues. The shoe maker posted net losses of $44.5 million for the fourth quarter of 2016 with net sales dropping more than $21 million to $187.4 million. It wasn’t immediately clear if any Alabama stores would close. – AL.com

Ward receives Business Champion Award

Alabama Sen. Cam Ward (R-Alabaster) received the Business Champion Award on Feb. 21 for sponsorship of legislation to regulate lawsuit lenders and bring stability and fairness to the tort process. The award was presented by the Business Council of Alabama president and CEO William J. Canary, Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama president and CEO Jeremy Arthur and Greater Shelby County Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Kirk Mancer. – Shelby County Reporter

Man pleads guilty to fake water testing

One of two men charged with falsifying water test results in Dale County has pleaded guilty and one awaits a June federal court trial in Dothan. Darin Lewis, 46, of Crestview, Fla., pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to commit wire fraud in federal court in Montgomery Feb. 16. He awaits a sentencing hearing, facing a maximum sentence of five years in prison. – Southeast Sun

Rogue becoming the face of Nissan

Booming sales of its compact Rogue crossover provided most of the muscle to lift the Nissan brand to a February U.S. sales record. The Rogue jumped 54 percent to 33,149 sales in February, beating both of its larger segment rivals, the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4. Rogues are built in Smyrna, Tennessee, as well as overseas. – Automotive News
