The Central Alabama Sports Commission has received the 2014 MAX Community Achievement Award for its dedication to attracting and facilitating sports events and conventions in central Alabama. For a fifth consecutive year, Baker Donelson has been named one of Fortune’s 100 Best Companies to Work For. The law firm ranked 31st on the listing, which was the firm’s highest ranking ever.
Brasfield & Gorrie has received awards from the Alabama Associated General Contractors in 13 categories, two of which were cited for excellence. Those two projects were the Raytheon Redstone Missile Integration Facility at Redstone Arsenal and the Galveston Causeway Vertical Lift Railroad Bridge in Galveston, Texas.
Brookwood Medical Center has received the Get With the Guidelines — Heart Failure Gold Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association for its aggressive treatment of heart failure in patients.
Murray Building Co. has been awarded the General Contractor of the Year ($25 million and below annual volume) by the Subcontractors Association of Alabama.
Regions Financial Corp. has received six 2013 Greenwich Excellence Awards for Middle Market Banking from Greenwich Associates. Those awards were in overall satisfaction, likelihood to recommend, relationship manager capability, online services, treasury management – overall satisfaction and treasury management – customer service.
Sain Associates, a civil engineering and surveying firm based in Birmingham, was the recipient of the 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers Employer Recognition Award for Support of Young Members.
Samford University’s Brock School of Business has had two of its finance programs recognized by the CFA Institute, a global association of investment professionals that set the standard for professional excellence.
Thompson Engineering Inc. has been inducted into the Alabama Engineering Hall of Fame. It was the only company inducted for the 2014 year. Thompson currently is involved in two large-profile projects in Mobile — the Airbus facility and the GulfQuest National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico.
The University of Alabama’s Manderson Online Business Master’s program has ranked 12th in U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 Grad Business Rankings.
Big Communications brought home a total of 29 ADDYs from the 56th annual Birmingham Advertising Awards, including the Best of Show award. Several of Big's wins included work for Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q, a restaurant with more than 30 locations throughout the Southeast and Colorado.
Calhoun Community College and Northeast Alabama Community College were recently named to the nation's top 150 community colleges eligible to compete for the 2015 Aspen Institute College Excellence Program's Prize for Community College Excellence. The prize is awarded every two years and recognizes high achievement and performance for student outcomes in student learning, certificate and degree completion, employment and earnings and high levels of access and success for minority and low-income students.
