Marriott’s top hotel for guest satisfaction, dining, golf and spa in North America for 2012 was the Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa in Florence. “This is a real honor for our associates and our owners — the Retirement Systems of Alabama,” said Larry Bowser, general manager of the hotel.

EMERGE Montgomery, a program of Leadership Montgomery, was honored with the 2013 MAX Community Achievement Award in early February. Presented annually by MAX Credit Union, the award recognizes an individual or organization that makes a significant difference in the quality of life for the people of Central and East Alabama.

Regions Bank has been recognized by Greenwich Associates for providing quality service to small business and middle market clients in 2012. The bank received 16 Greenwich Excellence Awards, doubling its 2011 tally. Of the total awards, nine were national awards in Small Business Banking and one was a regional award for the Midwest region. The other six awards were in Middle Market Banking, of which five were national awards and one was the regional award for the South region.
Sovereign Consulting Inc., an environmental consulting and remediation firm with an office in Mobile, received the bronze metal for business achievement in 2012 from the Environmental Business Journal. The company also was awarded the EGJ’s 2012 Technology Business Achievement Award for Remediation and the 2012 Technology Merit Business Achievement Award for Water/Wastewater.
