Amazon’s first Alabama address to be in Mobile

Online retail giant Amazon will open a sortation center in Mobile later this year, adding “hundreds of jobs” through the company’s first location in Alabama. According to Amazon spokeswoman Ashley Robinson, the sortation center will be located in the Theodore area at 6735 Trippel Road, where construction is already under way. – Lagniappe

Gardendale comes down on teen grass-cutting entrepreneurs

Teens in Gardendale are in for a rude awakening this summer when it comes to cutting grass. According to the city's ordinance, you must have a business license. GE picks Auburn University as a key 3-D printing partner

Auburn University has been named as one of only eight universities in the world by General Electric for its additive education program. Because of its participation, Auburn will receive a Concept Laser MLAB 100R metal printer as part of this program, which specializes in the mode of manufacturing popularly known as 3-D printing. AT&T president in Alabama to retire in July

AT&T Alabama's President Fred McCallum will retire July 31 after nine years in the position. McCallum joined the company in 1987 working for South Central Bell, the Birmingham-headquartered telecommunications company that was eventually merged into AT&T. – AL.com

Johnny Johns taking new role at Protective Life

Protective Life CEO John D. Johns - more commonly know as Johnny Johns - is transitioning out of the role after 15 years leading one of Birmingham's largest companies. Johns, 65, will remain active with Protective as executive chairman.
