Voestalpine Automotive investing $11.1M in Birmingham

Austrian automotive supplier voestalpine Automotive Body Parts Inc. announced plans Tuesday to open an $11.1 million Birmingham facility that’s expected to create 42 jobs. Voestalpine will produce a variety of automotive components, including stamped and hot formed parts, at an existing facility located at 260-A Lyon Lane, in Birmingham’s Oxmoor Valley, according to the Birmingham Business Alliance. – Made In Alabama

UAB doctors using telemed for home dialysis patients

Birmingham metro home sales up 20 percent

According to the Greater Alabama Multiple Listing Service, Birmingham metro area residential sales totaled 1,564 units during May, 269 units or 20.8 percent above the same time last year. – Alabama News Center

Alabama’s ranking on child wellbeing dips

A newly released study says Alabama lags behind most other states in improving children's overall wellbeing. The Annie E. Casey Foundation released its annual Kids Count book Tuesday. Researchers used data spanning 2008 to 2014 to determine the rankings. The study ranks child welfare by evaluating data on economic wellbeing, education, health, and family and community. The study ranks Alabama 46th in overall child well-being, a drop from 45th in 2015. – AP/BayTown Sun
