ACCOUNTING
Jackson Thornton principal Annamarie Wendlandt Jones has been honored as the 2014 Outstanding Business Leader by the College of Business at Auburn University at Montgomery. 

ADVERTISING
Luckie & Co. has announced a new leadership structure. John Gardner will serve as president, Brad White as chief creative officer and Chris Statt as chief operating officer.

AGRICULTURE
The Alabama Farmers Federation has welcomed A.J. Watson, who will serve as agricultural communications specialist in the Department of Public Relations and Communications. 
 

BANKING & FINANCE
Regions Financial Corp. has elected 13 directors to one-year terms. They are George Bryan, Carolyn Byrd, David Cooper Sr., Don DeFosset, Eric Fast, Grayson Hall Jr., John Johns, Charles McCrary, James Malone, Ruth Ann Marshall, Susan Matlock, John Maupin Jr. and Lee Styslinger III.

BIOTECHNOLOGY
Southern Research Institute has appointed M. Allison Taylor as vice president and general counsel. Taylor has more than 15 years of experience in legal and business affairs.

CONSTRUCTION
Dean Builds Inc. is opening a new office in Birmingham with Chris Allen as executive vice president. Allen has more than 26 years of design-build experience.

Brasfield & Gorrie Regional Safety Director Steve Sawyer has been honored with the Alabama chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers' Safety Professional of the Year award. In addition, Vice President and Division Manager Robby Hayes has been recognized by Building Design + Construction in its annual "40 Under 40" listing. 

EDUCATION
The Alabama Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators has named Cheryl Newton as the 2014 John H. Buchanan Jr. Distinguished Service Award winner. Newton is a grant coordinator at the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.

Samford University's Brock School of Business faculty member Darin White has been appointed chair of the American Marketing Association's Sports Marketing Special Interest Group. 

ENGINEERING
Goodwyn, Mills & Cawood Inc. has added Thomas Parham, Carli Small and Kevin Kempke to its healthcare department.

Karen Brown and Seranus Sesi have joined Gulf States Engineering Inc. as principals. Brown will serve as director of operations and Sesi as director of project management.

LBYD Inc. has promoted Brian Hatcher to associate. Hatcher holds bachelor’s and master's degrees from the University of Alabama in civil engineering.

HEALTHCARE
HealthSouth Corp. board of directors has named Leo “Lee” Higdon Jr. as non-executive chairman of the board. He succeeds Jon Hanson, who has served as a director since 2002 and as non-executive chairman since 2005.

Eight members of the Health Care Authority of the City of Huntsville have achieved Certified Hospital Trustee status. They are Phillip Bentley Jr., Mike Goodman, Jean Wessel Templeton, Frank Caprio, Bhavani Kakani, Beth Martin, Macon Phillips and David Smith

INSURANCE
Alfa Insurance has promoted David Christenberry, Darrell McNeal, Mark Evans and Tim Timmons to senior vice presidents in the marketing department.

LEGAL
Baker Donelson has added Natalie Bolling as a new shareholder in its Birmingham office. Bolling is a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Advisory Group.

Jim Busby, founder of QMS and chairman and CO of CentraLite Systems Inc. in Mobile, has been honored with Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce's Outstanding Entrepreneur Award.

MEDIA
Grand View Media Group has named Christian Lowe as online content director for Grand View Outdoors. In addition, he will retain his post as editor of Shooting Sports Retailer magazine.

ORGANIZATIONS
The Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County has named Pam Hudson and Bill Roark to its board of directors.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has named Rosilyn Houston, East Region retail executive vice president for BBVA Compass, as its corporate walk chair for the society's 2014 Light the Night Birmingham Walk.

REAL ESTATE
RealtySouth has added twelve new agents, including Brittany Barratt, Tomeka Baylor, Pam Blocker, J.J. Culmore, Lindsay Dabney, Stacey Gregory, Jennifer Grostick, Danielle Holliday, Raphael Lovelace, Jason Orr, Jon Peat and Tadd Smith.

White-Spunner Realty has added Meredith McCarson to its residential sales team and Matthew Garrard as property manager. Also, Sharon Wright has earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member designation from the CCIM Institute.

TECHNOLOGY
Quantum Research International Inc. has hired Tim Bloechl as director of cyber security business development. Bloechl most recently was involved in cyber security start-up activities with Secure Channels Inc. and Blackhawk Management Corp. 

WEALTH MANAGEMENT
Merrill Lynch has appointed S. Wesley Carpenter its resident director of the Fairhope office. Carpenter has more than 10 years of experience.
