Warren Averett LLC has appointed Thomas Sisson, CPA as managing partner of its Birmingham office. Sisson has been with the firm for 30 years and served in various leadership capacities. In addition, Tay Knight, CPA, has graduated from the Standards for Excellence Licensed Consultants program, which allows Knight to begin assisting nonprofits in her community.

Bryan Chandler, managing shareholder at JamisonMoneyFarmer PC, has been elected to the board of directors of the AlabamaGermany Partnership, a nonprofit corporation formed in 1998 to develop and support relationships between organizations and individuals in Alabama and Germany.


Copperwing, a creative consultancy in Montgomery, has hired Natalie Panciera, Haley Scott and Grace Garrett. Panciera will serve as a media planner and buyer, Scott as project coordinator and Garrett as a graphic designer.

Big Communications has hired Rachael Wingo as its chief financial officer. Wingo has been with Big since 2007. In this new role, she will oversee financial planning and business analysis, as well as supervising the media buying department’s administrative functions.


Phyllis French has joined the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center as education director.


Hancock Holding Co., which includes Whitney Bank and Hancock Bank, has hired Donovan Broussard and Liana Tchernysheva to lead the banks’ energy division.

ServisFirst Bank has promoted Nic Balanis and Stephen Davis, both to senior vice president of commercial banking, and Ron Morrison to senior vice president of private banking. The bank also hired Shane St. John as vice president and director of information technology.

Kevin McMahon has been promoted to executive vice president and director of commercial lending for Bryant Bank.


Karen Calametti, Darius Foster and Patricia McGriff have been confirmed by the Senate to serve on the Alabama Commission on Higher Education.

Wallace State Community College in Hanceville has appointed Jason Morgan as dean of financial and administrative services, the chief financial officer of the institution.

Roger Ritvo, a management professor at Auburn University at Montgomery, has been awarded a J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship for travel to the country of Georgia, where he will be a visiting professor at Tbilisi State University.  Anthropology and geography professor Terry Winemiller has been appointed to the Alabama Geographic Information Advisory Committee.

Deborah Lafky has been appointed assistant dean at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. She will direct the Center for Strategic Health Innovation.


Engineering and architectural firm Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood has opened an Atlanta office with Paul Anderson directing its federal services team.

Food Processing

Bud’s Best Cookies, a cookie factory in Birmingham producing Bud’s Best and Uncle Al’s cookies, has promoted Al Cason to president. Cason had been vice president for sales and marketing since 1998. 


Justin Williams has been elected president and managing member of Tanner & Guin LLC. Williams’ practice focuses on corporate bankruptcy, workouts, insolvency and commercial and business litigation.

Latanishia Watters, an attorney with Haskell Slaughter Young & Rediker LLC, has been named 2012 Young Alumna of the Year by Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. In addition, Bert Nettles, also an attorney with the firm, has been reappointed to the Alabama Pattern Jury Instructions Committee – Civil by the Alabama Supreme Court. The committee reviews and advises the court on pattern jury instructions used in civil jury trials.


Sean Tinney has been named president and COO of St. Vincent’s East. Kidada Hawkins has been named interim president for rural hospital operations.

Joe Riley has been appointed president and CEO of Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. He recently served as CEO of McAllen Medical Center in Texas.


The board of directors of the Chamber of Commerce Association of Alabama has named Jeremy Arthur, former president of the Prattville Chamber of Commerce, as its new executive director.


Dynetics has appointed Bill Kessler as sales manager for the company’s AssuredCompliance™ software products.

Sigmatech Inc. has named Rick Turner vice president of its U.S. Army Aviation & Missile Command expedited professional and engineering support services.
