Newcastle Homes, of Birmingham, is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Formed in 1997, the company has grown from a handful of employees to 38 staff associates, builders and licensed real estate agents. The company focuses on residential construction, land development and real estate sales.
ALAGA Cane Syrup has been a staple of kitchen tables in the South for 111 years. Still produced at Montgomery-based Whitfield Foods, the syrup is known for its distinct taste.

TFab Manufacturing LLC, a subsidiary of Tyonek Manufacturing Group Inc. and Tyonek Native Corp., has been recognized by Sikorsky as Black Hawk Supplier of the Year. TFab is located in Madison.
The University of North Alabama ranked no. 57 on the Chronicle of Higher Education’s list: Recent Private Gifts to Higher Education. The ranking came in response to a recent $1 million gift made by brothers Joe McKinney and Chester McKinney Jr. in honor of their late mother, UNA alumna Connie McKinney.
