A month of achievements in Alabama business
Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon Inc. Community Fund recently made a $1,000 donation to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center Young Supporters Board. The YSB provides funding to young investigators who are currently searching for a cure for cancer. The Alabama Commission on Higher Education’s website, ache.alabama.gov, has met the Google requirements to be mobile friendly. The website averages more than 30,000 hits per month on numerous topics, including student assistance, academic program information and Alabama Student Database reports.
Calhoun Community College’s welding program has earned accreditation as an Accredited Test Facility by the American Welding Society. Companies are switching to ATFs to test and qualify their welders instead of self-qualifying.
Chesapeake Systems Solutions, a developer of financial software solutions in Birmingham, has achieved Gold Partner status in the Oracle PartnerNetwork related to Chesapeake’s T-Recs Enterprise.
For a second consecutive year, Mayfield Dairy, in Birmingham, is the recipient of Dean Foods CEO Quality Award for ice cream. The award is Dean Foods’ top honor and Mayfield was selected over eight other ice cream plants after a yearlong judging process.
MTI Business Solutions, of Mobile, has been named an authorized partner for Everything DiSC, a Wiley brand. DiSC is recognized as an industry-standard adaptive personality assessment tool.
Net Direct Merchants, of Florence, has been selected by Google as an example of a business that is maximizing growth via the internet in Google’s annual Economic Impact Report, released in early June. Net Direct Merchants uses Google tools to reach interested customers and then delivers specialist product knowledge about the brands it operates.
Regions Bank has been named a winner of the 2015 Gallup Consulting Great Workplace Award. Regions was one of 40 companies honored worldwide.
The Lattice Inn, in Montgomery, has received its fifth consecutive TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award, which qualifies it for induction into TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame.
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business accounting program has been endorsed by the Institute of Management Accountants, enabling students to earn the Certified Management Accountant credential.
