A month of achievements in Alabama business

Brasfield & Gorrie has received an Award of Excellence from the Associated Builders and Contractors North Alabama chapter for its work on Artisan at Twickenham Square, an apartment community in Huntsville. 

Advanced Disposal’s Stone’s Throw Landfill, in Tallassee, was presented the Landfill of the Year Award by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management. The award was presented in the private municipal solid waste category for its community involvement, innovation and appearance. Stone’s Throw Landfill produces and sells carbon offset credits on the Climate Action Reserve carbon exchange. It is able to produce these credits because Advanced Disposal installed and operates a landfill gas collection system.

Auburn University won the national Innovation and Economic Prosperity University award for its impact in economic development, presented by the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. In addition, the university’s industrial design, architecture and interior design programs continue to be ranked in the top 10 nationally by DesignIntelligence in its annual survey, America’s Best Architecture and Design Schools 2016.

The Professional Grounds Management Society recognized Auburn University at Montgomery with an award in the Urban University category in the 2015 Green Star Awards competition. 

Huntsville Hospital has been named one of the nation’s 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospitals by Truven Health Analytics. Huntsville Hospital was the only hospital in Alabama to be included on the list. 

Madison Behavior Therapy was named the 2015 Start Up Business of the Year at Madison Chamber of Commerce’s annual Small Business Awards celebration. 

Regions Bank has been ranked highest for customer satisfaction among all retail banks measured in the 2015 American Customer Satisfaction Index report. The report is based on more than 9,000 consumer interviews. 

Wallace State Community College in Hanceville has been designated a 2016 Military Friendly School by Victory Media, publisher of G.I. Jobs.
