A month of business achievements
The Gulf Coast GreenLeaders, U.S. Green Building Council Alabama Chapter, has recognized White-Spunner Construction for its role in building the Seafood Distribution Plant in Bayou La Batre. The plant is one of the few industrial projects in the state to be certified under the USGBC’s LEED rating system.
Adtran’s Bluesocket virtual Wireless LAN (vWLAN) has been honored with three awards — TMC’s Internet Telephony Excellence Award, TMC’s Communications Solutions Product of the Year and the American Business Awards Gold Stevie.
The state of Alabama recently placed sixth in Site Selection magazine’s Top Business Climates 2012 listing. It also ranked eighth on the magazine’s Executive Survey Business Climate Rankings 2012. In addition, the state’s website, www.alabama.gov, received the Silver Award from the International Academy of the Visual Arts for its user-friendly design.
The Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau has received ConventionSouth’s 2012 Readers’ Choice Award. This is the fourth year the bureau has received the award.
Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz P.C. has earned the top spot in Marketing the Law Firm’s ranking of the top 50 law firms in marketing and business development. In addition, the law firm garnered 151 first-tier metropolitan rankings in the 2013 U.S. News — Best Lawyers’ “Best Law Firms” list across 13 markets. These rankings earned the law firm a spot among the top 20 firms nationally with the most first-tier metropolitan rankings.
Balch & Bingham LLP has been listed in the 2013 Best Law Firms list as a tier one law firm in mass tort litigation/class actions – defendants by U.S. News & World Report — Best Lawyers. In addition, the firm received 44 metropolitan first-tier rankings across five metro areas.
Sirote & Permutt’s Emily Bates, Amy Capps and Keith Young accept the Southeastern Chapter of the Legal Marketing Association’s annual 2012 Your Honor Awards. The team took the first place award in the media/public relations category.
DailyAccess has been awarded 32 “Best in Class” honors in three asset categories and four top-ten rankings in PLANSPONSOR magazine’s 2012 Defined Contribution Survey.
Fyffe Construction Co., of Fyffe, Ala., was named EarthCraft House 2011 Project Team of the Year by Southface and the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association. EarthCraft is a green building program in the Southeast.
Higgins Electric Co., of Dothan, is celebrating its 80th anniversary. Higgins has served the Southeast in the repair, construction, service and sales of motors, as well as in design, construction and maintenance of industrial electrical systems.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the U.S. and Canada has awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to the Alabama State Port Authority for its annual financial report.
Sight Savers America, Aid to Inmate Mothers and the Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center were three of five non-profit organizations to be nominated to receive new corporate branding provided by LWT, as part of LWT’s 11th annual CreateAthon event. Sight Savers is based in Birmingham. Aid to Inmate Mothers is based in Montgomery and the Gulf Coast Exploreum is located in Mobile.
