Children's Advocacy Group Lists Education Funding, Smoking Ban among Legislative Goals

VOICES, an advocacy group for Alabama's children, has set its sight on two major goals for the Alabama Legislature.

One of the group's first set of objectives is for legislators to obtain funding for pre-kindergarten programs that boost proficiency in math and reading, provide financial assistance for parent who cannot afford day care and for a children's insurance program.

Additionally, the group will also push for a ban on smoking in almost all public places. 

The next legislative session will take place on Feb. 7.
