The Auburn University at Montgomery Wellness Center has been named a 2013 Facility of Merit by Athletic Business magazine. The awards were selected by a panel of sports and recreation facility architects. The center was opened in 2012.

Brasfield & Gorrie will celebrate its 50th anniversary in June. Chairman Miller Gorrie purchased the construction assets of Thomas C. Brasfield Co. in 1964 and changed the name in 1967 when he moved the company headquarters to Birmingham. Today, it has offices in Atlanta and Columbus, Ga.; Dallas, Texas; Jacksonville and Orlando, Fla.; Nashville, Tenn. and Raleigh, N.C.
The Credit Union Executives Society Alabama Council recently was recognized as the Outstanding Council for 2013 by the national Credit Union Executives Society.
The Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant has been selected to receive the 2013 Information Systems on Occupational Exposure (ISOE) World-Class ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) Performance Award. The Southern Nuclear facility’s employees utilized information gathered from other radiation protection professionals to effect significant improvements in radiological safety at the plant.

Merchant Capital, an Alabama-based investment banking firm, has been ranked no. 1 in the state by Thomson Reuters for 2013, a distinction it has held for the last 20 years. The firm achieved this year’s ranking by issue volume, including the no. 1 spot nationally in multi-family housing and the no. 2 spot in the Southeast in public finance. The firm served as sole or senior manager for 98 bond issues totaling nearly $1.2 billion in 2013.
NASA has been selected as the Best Place to Work in Government by the Partnership for Public Service. This is the second consecutive year for NASA to receive the honor. NASA’s Alabama facility is the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville.
Southeast Alabama Medical Center recently earned advanced certification for primary stroke centers from The Joint Commission in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The certification is the latest achievement of SAMC’s Stroke Care Network, which was formed last spring in conjunction with Medical Center Barbour, Mizell Memorial Hospital, Dale Medical Center and Troy Regional Medical Center.
The Auburn University Raymond J. Harbert College of Business’ online graduate program earned the no. 12 rank from the U.S. News & World Report survey released in January. This is the second consecutive year the college has earned recognition in the magazine’s Best Online Programs ranking.
