Air Force picks Montgomery for F-35 fighter program

After a nearly two-year process, the City of Montgomery has been chosen as the home for the new F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Jet. Dannelly Field, home of the 187th Fighter Wing – the Red Tails – of the Alabama Air National Guard would be the home to the new program. The jets should begin arriving sometime in 2023 as the Air Force retires its F-16 fighter jets. The economic impact of the program will be sizable due to the more than $3 billion investment. – WSFA

Austal completes delivery of EPF 9 to U.S. Navy

Austal USA met with Navy officials in Mobile Thursday to finalize the documentation required to make the delivery of USNS City of Bismarck (EPF 9) official.  EPF 9 is the second ship in this program that Austal has delivered in 2017, with the Navy taking delivery of USNS Yuma (EPF 8) earlier this year. – WorkBoat

Hwashin America doing $23M expansion in Greenville

Hwashin America will undergo a $23 million project line expansion at its Greenville facility. The expansion will create approximately one hundred new jobs. That’s in addition to the 800 people already employed at the plant. The City of Greenville is granting a tax abatement to aid in construction-related expenses. – ANN

Air Hydro Power expands Alabama footprint

Kentucky-based Air Hydro Power Inc. has acquired Powermotion Inc. of Birmingham. This acquisition included a ParkerStore in Birmingham. With the addition of AHP’s product lines, Powermotion will have a complete automation, hydraulic, pneumatic, and hose and fittings offering. AHP now has locations in Birmingham, Decatur, Huntsville, and Montgomery. – News release

Former Fort McClellan post HQ sold for $2.3M

The McClellan Development Authority, tasked with redeveloping the former Fort McClellan in Anniston, announced a deal Thursday to sell the post's former headquarters. It has closed on the sale of the former Buckner Headquarters complex for $2.3 million to McClellan Independent Living Facilities. – AL.com

Caddell Construction project wins national award

A Caddell Construction Company project has won top honors in the 2017 Associated Builders & Contractors (ABC) National Project Excellence Competition. Caddell performed the design-build of state-of-the-art diesel and welding training facilities at a Georgia county prison operated by CoreCivic (formerly Corrections Corporation of America). – News release

PNC Bank announces deal to acquire Fortis Advisors

PNC Bank this week announced entry into a definitive agreement to acquire Fortis Advisors, a leading provider of private merger and acquisition post-closing shareholder representative services, having engaged in over 750 M&A transactions since 2011. Fortis will become a subsidiary of PNC Bank within its Corporate & Institutional Banking business. – News release
