A month of achievements in Alabama business

T.W. Frierson Contractor Inc., of Nashville, Tennessee, has won an Associated Builders and Contractors Excellence in Construction award, in the Industrial Over $25 Million category, for the $48.5 million Polaris Industries project in Huntsville (pictured).

ABSCO Fireplace & Patio has won, for a second time, the Apollo Award presented by the International Casual Furnishings Association. 

Team members from Amerex in Trussville and Tyler Union Foundry in Anniston submitted winning projects at the seventh annual Ergo Cup competition, sponsored by McWane Inc. Amerex won the Best Risk Reduction Award and Tyler Union won the Most Innovative Project award. 

BFGoodrich Tires is celebrating its 70th year in Tuscaloosa. Its first tire was manufactured on October 23, 1946, and the plant has produced nearly 490 million tires since then. 

Boeing has earned a Platinum Award for its workforce well-being programs from the National Business Group on Health.

J.L. Bedsole/Rotary Rehabilitation Hospital has been accredited for a three-year period for its inpatient adult and adolescent rehabilitation and stroke specialty program by CARF International. 

Doster Construction Co. recently received the 2016 General Contractor Safety Award from Subcontractors Association of Alabama. 

Mobile Infirmary has been designated a Tier 1 Hospital by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. 

The River Region Ethics and Public Service Awards were presented to the following companies in their respective categories: Cloverdale Service Center, Small Business; Balch & Bingham LLP, Medium Business; Caddell Construction Co., Large Business; Tukabatchee Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Non-Profit Organizations/Public Agencies, and Lynn Beshear, Individual Community Leaders.

Robins & Morton has been recognized for its employee adoption benefits by the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Robins & Morton also won 10 Excellence in Construction awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors of Alabama.

Torch Technologies, of Huntsville, has been ranked no. 31 on the Best Medium Workplaces list by Great Place to Work and Fortune magazine. 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham has been ranked no. 162 among the U.S. News & World Report’s 2017 Best Global Universities. In addition, UAB has been ranked no. 147 in the world and no. 1 in Alabama by the Center for World University Rankings. 

The University of North Alabama College of Business has received the 2016 Award of Excellence for Innovation and Talent from the University Economic Development Association. 

ZF Chassis Systems, of Tuscaloosa, has been selected to present its Interns and Young Professionals (IYP) Program at ZF’s annual Excellence Awards in the Business Processes and Methods category in Germany. This is the first time the Tuscaloosa plant has had a project advance to the finals.  

Auburn University's "This is Auburn" has raised $1 billion so far for the school. The campaign still has 16 months left to go.

McGlinchey Stafford PLLC has celebrated its first anniversary in Birmingham. The firm now has five attorneys at this location with 12 other offices in multiple states.

The Department of Public Affairs, Community Relations and Special Events at Calhoun Community College has been recognized with five awards from the National Council on Marketing and Public Relations.

Wallace State Community College earned 12 awards from the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations.

White-Spunner Construction Inc. is celebrating its 35th anniversary with an expansion into Texas.
