Kassouf & Co. adds shareholder Tommie Cummings. Cummings, who has more than 30 years of experience, will serve as director of business services.


NASA has named John Honeycutt manager of the Space Launch System Program. Honeycutt succeeds Todd May, who in August was named deputy director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, where the SLS program is managed. 


Sam Long has been hired as a chassis specification engineer at Four Star Freightliner in Montgomery. In addition, for a third consecutive year, the company’s Utility and Municipal Account Manager Truman Ingram has been named an Elite winner in the Leland James Sales Achievement Program, which recognizes the best managers in the Freightliner Dealer Network.  


Synovus Bank has appointed Mark Snead as CEO of Sterling Bank. Snead will begin the position on Jan. 1, following the year-end retirement of current CEO Alan Worrell

Lynda Lewis, vice president and trust officer for First Partners Bank, has passed the Certified IRA Services Professional exam from the Institute of Certified Bankers. 

IberiaMortgage Co. has promoted Sophia Schulte to loan officer in north Alabama. 

Cindy Rogers, senior executive vice president and head of operations and technology, will retire on Dec. 31 after a 36-year career at Regions Financial Corp. 


Brasfield & Gorrie employees Tres Jernigan, Richard Brooks and Buddy Clark recently were honored with awards from the Subcontractors Association of Alabama. Jernigan was named Project Manager of the Year; Brooks, Estimator of the Year, and Clark, Superintendent of the Year. 

Economic Development

Donny Jones, chief operating officer of the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama, has been appointed to the Alabama Workforce Council. 

The Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama has named Amy Materson its director of communications and marketing. She replaces Robin Jenkins, who was named director of education after Loo Whitfield retired from that position. 


David Bullard, CEO of Piggly Wiggly Alabama Distributing Co., has been named the 2015 Wholesaler of the Year by the Alabama Grocers Association. 

Chris Litz, of Publix Super Markets Inc., has been named 2015 Retailer of the Year by the Alabama Grocers Association. 

United Johnson Brothers of Alabama President Bob Crawford has been named 2015 Vendor of the Year by the Alabama Grocers Association. 

Higher Education

Three new presidents have been appointed to community colleges recently. They are Valerie Richardson at Bishop State Community College, Susan Burrow at Central Alabama Community College and Martha Griffith Lavender at Gadsden State Community College. Also, James Pickard has been named the new director of the Alabama Aviation Center Gulf Coast Operations, Mobile, with Rebecca Masic as workforce officer and Russ Rothamer as chief academic and student affairs officer. 

Reginald Sykes, president of Alabama Southern Community College, has been appointed chairman of the Rural Community College Alliance Board. 


ALFA Insurance President Jimmy Parnell has received the Corporate Recognition Award from Toastmasters International. 

Palomar Insurance Corp. has hired Clay Milton as an account executive. An Auburn University graduate, Milton previously served as an assistant underwriter at AmWins Group Inc. in Birmingham. 

Charles Simpson has joined EPIC Insurance Brokers and Consultants’ Birmingham-based National Energy Construction Practice as a senior risk control consultant. 


Baker Donelson has added Michael Johnson to the firm’s Global Business Team in Alabama. Johnson has experience in cross-border transactions, international trade and market entry, foreign direct investment and more. 

Maynard Cooper & Gale Shareholder Jodie Smith has been appointed to the 2015-2016 Board of Directors for the National Association of Bond Lawyers.

Alexander Shunnarah Personal Injury Attorneys PC has hired Garrett Dennis and Cody Isbell. Both are recent graduates of Cumberland School of Law. 

Real Estate

Dobbins Group LLC, real estate developer, has added John Stacy as construction manager. Stacy has more than 11 years of experience in construction.
