Life insurers, including Protective Life, asked by feds to reveal ‘captives’ costs

In-house insurance units known as ‘captives,’ thought by feds to be a way to concealing poor financial health, are now under scrutiny by SEC regulators. MetLife Inc, Genworth Financial Inc, Hartford Financial Services group Inc., Protective Life Corp and Reinsurance Group of America have reportedly conferred with the SEC on the matter. – Reuters
