Calhoun Community College’s Decatur campus has been honored by the Athens-Limestone Beautification Board.
Alabama Coastal Foundation has received the 2017 Water Conservationist of the Year award from the Alabama Wildlife Federation for its creation of the Alabama Oyster Shell Recycling Program. As of late June, the program had collected more than 2.8 million shells, which will cover 7.2 acres of oyster reef.

For an eighth consecutive year, Children’s of Alabama has ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. Seven of the hospital’s pediatric specialty services were placed among the top 50 in the U.S.
