Remington lays off 105 in NY

Remington Outdoor, the Ilion, New York gun manufacturer, is laying off 105 workers in New York as part of its expansion in Alabama. A spokesman for Sen. James Seward, R-Milford, Otsego County, who represents the Mohawk Valley plant, confirmed the layoffs Monday. – Journal News

With 1,000 local positions up for grabs, Event Operations Group wants coastal Alabama residents looking for flexible employment to find it in Gulf Shores. Slow growth dampens forecast

Key Alabama economic indicators are relatively weak at mid-2014, according to the new Center for Business and Economic Research report.  The state gained 5,200 nonfarm jobs from June 2013 to June 2014, an increase of just 0.3 percent. Tax revenues for the first nine months of FY2014 were up by only 0.4 percent compared to a 4.6 percent increase during the same period of FY2013. – CBER

More steel slabs head to Alabama

Germany's ThyssenKrupp CSA mill in Rio de Janeiro, which makes up ThyssenKrupp's Steel Americas division, raised slab production 19 percent in the first nine months of fiscal 2013-14, ended June 30, compared to the same period a year earlier. Alabama among most honest states

Honest Tea recently conducted a national social experiment called The National Honesty Index, and the results are in. When faced with a choice to be honest or not, the experiment found that a resounding 95% of Americans were honest, up from 92% in 2013.
