Comedian Steve Harvey lends a hand with glove factory

An Alabama factory is resuming production, thanks to a big assist from comedian Steve Harvey. The media personality and Montgomery's Greg Calhoun teamed up to open Ameritex – a latex factory that will produce gloves in Eufaula. ‘Thunder’ Thornton creates gig service with Alabama partner

Developer John "Thunder" Thornton has launched gigabit-speed Internet service for some Tennessee residents by creating his own Internet service provider called Hi-Tech Data LLC.  Thornton worked with North Alabama Electric Cooperative, along with assistance from Tennessee-based Sequachee Valley Electric Cooperative, to bring the gig to Jasper Highlands’ mountaintop residents. – Nooga.com

Firehouse Subs Foundation donates safety equipment

Thanks to a public safety foundation by Firehouse Subs, volunteer fire departments in several counties across the state can now get the job done a little easier. In Pike County, the Spring Hill and Banks Volunteer Fire Departments were awarded more than $21,000 worth of equipment Wednesday. In all, five donation events this week in Alabama to 12 public safety organizations netted $223,342 worth of life-saving equipment grants. – AlabamaNetsNet.com

Birmingham property management firm to expand
