Sight Savers America, based in Alabama, has presented its inaugural Hall Thompson Hero for Sight Award to Songs for Sight, an innovative partnership among Alie B. Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon Inc. has received second place at the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards for its decommissioning of the Beaver Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant in Dothan. The American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama presented the award.
The Boeing Co., which has locations in Huntsville, has received the Excellence in Greenhouse Gas Management Award for Goal Achievement from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in collaboration with the Association of Climate Change Officers, the Center for Climate and Energy Solutions and The Climate Registry.
Brasfield & Gorrie has received six national Associated Builders and Contractors’ Excellence in Construction awards, including four first-place Eagle awards and two second-place Pyramid awards.
Cepeda Systems & Software Analysis Inc., of Huntsville, recently received a Blue Ribbon Small Business Award from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, recognizing the company’s contributions to restoring jobs and supporting economic growth.
Hilton Garden Inn of Mobile East Bay/Daphne has been named as the brand’s top performing hotel for 2013. The Daphne property was selected from among 585 hotels worldwide to receive the “Connie Award.” The 124-room hotel also was recognized with the Highest Overall Dinner Experience Award and the Hilton Honors Loyalty Award.
Hoar Construction, of Birmingham, was presented three national Pyramid awards from the Associated Builders and Contractors for three projects. The awards were presented in the historical restoration/renovation, institutional and commercial categories.
Mowery Consulting Group, a political consulting and public relations agency headquartered in Montgomery, has been nominated for multiple Pollie Awards to be awarded at the 2014 American Association of Political Consultants convention. The company was nominated in three categories for its “What Is Trauma” campaign, done for the Alabama Hospital Association.

Transworld Business Advisors of Alabama has completed its first full year of operations in the state. Since beginning operations in 2013, it has grown to include more than 25 advisors.
The Alabama Center for Excellence in Clean Energy Technology on the Decatur campus of Calhoun Community College, received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification. The center is the first building in the state of Alabama to be certified LEED Platinum.
